Flinders Partners

Your partner in creating value from research

Government & Industry

Why collaborate?

Partnering and collaborating are at the core of the open innovation paradigm.  While it was once assumed that companies could manage and maintain their competitive advantage internally, globalisation, rising costs and an unstable economy have all meant that companies now have to look outside their organisations if they wish to maintain market share and stay afloat.

Open innovation is essentially the idea that firms should look beyond the internal resources of their company to outside sources such as suppliers, research institutions (i.e. universities), producers of complementary products and services, and other firms, to identify, acquire and develop new opportunities to provide innovative solutions.

Benefits to you include:

Access to unique expertise / technologies / equipment

Researchers possess knowledge of what is going on at the cutting edge of research and have the ability to develop innovative IP that can provide the basis for new or improved products and processes.  They also have access to equipment and other resources which enable them to carry out specialist testing at an affordable rate.

Contact Flinders Partners to see how you may be able to strategically leverage some of these capabilities and resources for use in your own organisation.

Leverage External Funding

Research and development is a time consuming and costly process, so make use of all of the relevant resources available to you. Partnering with the University can enable organisations to leverage numerous grants and funding opportunities (link to page).

R&D Tax Credit

Partnering with the University may entitle organisations to a 45 per cent refundable tax credit (the equivalent to a 150 per cent concession).
