Research Innovation Showcase
30 Sep 2010
Thursday, September 30, 2010 saw the staging of a South Australian Tech Transfer Office first. Flinders Partners, in conjunction with Flinders University, held the State's very first University Research Innovation Showcase.
The event was a great chance for the researchers at Flinders University to get a taste of what is involved in pitching their research, skills and ideas to people with commercial needs. It was also a great opportunity to show off the innovation focus at Flinders, and to encourage government and industry guests to seriously consider Universities as a portal to accessing research and innovation.
Flinders has a long-standing reputation for innovative research and technical know-how, demonstrated time and time again through a succession of industry-university partnerships. While individual successes have been celebrated and have received significant publicity, a comprehensive event showcasing Flinders University technologies enabled interested parties to access the great minds united at Flinders, helping to cement Flinders position as leader in innovative thinking.
The showcase was held on campus, and saw 20 researchers pitch their ideas and research outcomes in four rounds to over 100 industry and local government people. The inaugural event was an enormous success, and set a benchmark for future events of this nature.
We would like to thank all of those who came along to show their support for this event, and would invite others who were unable to attend this first event to register their interest in being informed of future events. By attending future events, not only will you be supporting innovation in South Australia, but you will also have an opportunity the brains behind a number of great technologies and capabilities, and learn more about how they might be able to help your organisation be more innovative.
Listed below are the names of the researchers who road tested this unique concept, including their research idea/capability and contact details. Video footage of each pitch can be seen by clicking on the respective topic listed below.
